Race Against Hunger Traffic Advisory
The 2012 Race Against Hunger 10K is scheduled for Saturday February 25, 2012. Residents can expect traffic delays between 7:00 and 11:00 am along the following roads: US 378/Sunset Blvd, Dreher St., Harmon St., South Church St., US 1/East Main St., Maiden Ln., Elm St., Hendrix St., Gibson Rd., Roberts St., & SC6 North Lake/South Lake Dr.

2012 Citizen's Academy
The 2012 Citizen's Academy is scheduled to begin on March 13. This 9 week class meets once a week from 7-9 pm and affords you to learn more about police operations and to build a stronger relationship between the community and the department. Qualified applicants must be twenty one years of age, a resident or business owner in the Town of Lexington and successfully submit to a background check to be completed by the department. RAD Self Defense Course
The February RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) course for women is full. Contact CAT Team Officer Whitlock at 803-359-6022 for more information if you are interested in an upcoming class. You can also download a flyer for more information.
Alarm Ordinance
The Lexington Police Department, in conjunction with the South Carolina Police Chiefs Association (SCPCA) Alarm Management Committee, developed an Alarm Ordinance for the Town of Lexington . This ordinance was recently passed by Town Council and requires registration of all alarm systems within the Town limits of Lexington.
Crime Maps Now Online for Public!
Lexington residents now have a new and free tool to map and analyze crime activity occuring within the town. Crime data is now being displayed through the website RAIDS Online. There is even an app for your Apple device. Search the app store!

Your Department
The men and women of the Police Department are committed to the philosophy of community oriented policing and strive to build partnerships in all facets of our community. Through the establishment of exemplary programs and a proactive approach to problem solving, we strive to enhance the quality of life of our citizens and provide the highest possible quality of public service.
Our foremost concern is the protection of our citizens and merchants and the security of their homes and businesses. Our department consists of 53 personnel, including 47 sworn officers, 2 sworn reserve officers and 4 administrative staff.
The Department currently serves a population of over 17,000 residents and welcomes the challenge of serving a growing residential and business community. By fostering a spirit of involvement and open communication between citizens and police, we seek to build a partnership with the community we serve.
The Lexington Police Department strives to maintain an exemplary level of professionalism and is an international (CALEA) and state (SCLEA) accredited agency. Members of the public are always welcome to ask any member of the Department for assistance.
We invite you to provide both positive and negative feedback on how well we are serving this community. Our office is located in the Lexington Town Hall and is open Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm.
